We are a Non-Profit Charitable organisation growing a community wellbeing response for all people in Te Matau a Māui. We aim to bring people together one cup at a time by creating a space that is by the community for the community. Through mobile coffee carts and cafes, we will provide support and guidance for those seeking connection and oranga.
Common Grounds Te Matau a Māui is a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening community wellbeing by fostering connection and providing support. Our services include mobile coffee carts, community workshops, and support groups tailored to the needs of the people in Te Matau a Māui. Through mobile coffee carts and cafes, we will provide support and guidance for
those seeking connection and orange (wellbeing).
We aim to complement, not replace, professional mental health care by creating
spaces that reduce isolation and foster resilience. We do not offer therapy, diagnosis,
medical treatment, or crisis interventions, and our volunteers are not acting as
licensed mental health professionals.

Your donation assists us to keep common grounds running. This may include:
- general running of the coffee carts e.g. supplies, maintenance, petrol.

-Providing drinks and kai to those in need.

Yes the trust is a registered charity and complies with legal duties under New
Zealand law.
The trust is funded by community grants and personal donations.
We sell drinks and kai at reasonable rates. There is also an opportunity to ‘pay it
forward’ so people in need can also have a hot drink and kai at no cost.
We will be based in Rural areas around Hawkes Bay.

You can become a volunteer or friend of common grounds. There are lots of ways to
be active in the kaupapa. Just get in touch.

We welcome people with Barista experience, but we also have other roles that do not
require barista experience.
Anyone can volunteer. We want to involve all people within our community.
